Reaching out to the wider world
Our Wider World
We want our children to be knowledgeable global citizens that are curious and excited about the world around them, confident that they can ‘Make A Difference’ and recognise similarities and embrace difference.
Our Eco activities focus on sustainability and the fragility of the world and how we can use a voice to bring awareness to current issues, as well as encompassing the development of our school’s grounds to help reuse, reduce, recycle. We have new school allotment, which grows fruits and vegetables used in our school dinners, we help look after our local area, including our community Forest School and our curriculum is rich with opportunity to learn about the world too.
We take part in the Glastonbury and Oxfam Climate Justice campaign and each year, send a banner to Glastonbury to make people have a moment of reflection about their actions. Our children have an increasing global awareness and initiate the things they feel passionate about.
Using our Voice
Why do we campaign for education?
Colne Engaine children believe in the importance of education and now through our work with Send My Friend To School 2023, also understand this should be an entitlement for all children and not just for individual children and their families, but for whole communities, countries and the world. James Cleverly, Home Secetary, came to school to discuss the current support we we put in to help all children around the world access education.
Our team of ambassadors learnt how education can provide stability to children who are displaced, open up paths out of poverty, reduce the likelihood of conflict, contribute to a healthy planet and is vital for long-term growth. They used their voice to call upon leaders to make education a priority and ensure that no child is left behind.
We are very proud of the difference they want to make.
